During the Second World War a further line was built from Sztutowo along the coast to Krynica Morska.
The Sztutowo – Krynica Morska line closed as early as 1953, and the Malbork – Swietliki section was handed over to the sugar works in 1958.
There is now a restoration attempt on the northern section of the system, from Mikoszewo (on the right bank of the Wisla) through Stegna to Sztutowo.

The excavations brought to light the hull of a flat-bottomed vessel 21.76 m long and 3.12 m wide.

The Museum has issued a call for the martyrdom museums in Poland (Majdanek, Sztutowo [Stutthof], Rogoźnica [Gross-Rosen], Treblinka, Chełmno nad Nerem [Kulmhof], Sobibor, and Belzec) to report on their position in regard to their current situation.
Representatives of the Majdanek and Sztutowo museums joined provincial preservation officers from Małopolska, Gdańsk, and Lublin provinces in discussing the problems facing such museums in Poland.
The information will be used as the basis for a "Report on the State of Martyrdom Museums in Poland," which will be sent to the Council for the Protection of Monuments of Fighting and Suffering, as well as to the Ministry of Culture.

Stutthof (Sztutowo in Polish) was located 36 kilometers east of the city of Danzig (now the Polish city of Gdansk) in a wooded clearing near the Baltic coast at the mouth of the Vistula river.
Hastily set up as an emergency internment center in September 1939, as German forces were subduing Poland, it was soon established on a more permanent basis, and in 1942 was officially designated as a concentration camp.
