Krishnamurthy’s comment came amid speculation that the commission might need more time to prepare for polls if the government dissolves the Lok Sabha as expected after February 5, the day the short Parliament session it has called ends.
According to Krishnamurthy, a meeting of all state chief electoral officers is scheduled for February 4, to be followed by a meeting of all chief secretaries for which “no date yet has been finalised”.
Krishnamurthy said electronic voting machines were “tamper proof” as they were “tested and satisfied” by experts.

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court-appointed observer for the conduct of elections to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), T.S. Krishnamurthy, has recommended amendment of the BCCI Constitution to ensure smooth elections in future.
The former Chief Election Commissioner was appointed as a consensus observer for the polls held on November 29 in which the Union Minister, Sharad Pawar was elected as the BCCI president.
Krishnamurthy besides giving a detailed explanation on the procedure adopted for the conduct of the polls has made certain recommendations for implementation for future elections.

Haryana Opposition parties today urged Chief Election Commissioner, T S Krishnamurthy to bring into force the model code of conduct and stop Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala from luring voters by announcing doles for various sections of the population.
Mr Krishnamurthy, who was talking to reporters here today about preparations for the Assembly elections in Haryana, added that prior to assembly elections there would be also reshuffling of officers to shift officers who were serving at a particular place for a long duration.
Mr Krishnamurthy said in all 90 Assembly constituencies of Haryana, there would be one central observer each to ensure that the model code of conduct was being observed by all contestants.

Representatives of a large number of affiliate units had met Krishnamurthy yesterday to submit their demands and counter-demands on authorisation of nominees to attend the AGM.
