Timex Sinclair 2068 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Timex Sinclair 2068 (TS2068), released in November 1983, was Timex Sinclair's fourth and last home computer for the U.S. market.
It derived from the 48K ZX Spectrum, and followed Timex's ZX81-based TS1000 and TS1500, and the Spectrum-based TS2048.
The TS2048 was essentially a 48K Spectrum with improved graphics modes – see below – and an integrated Kempston joystick interface.

Never released by Timex Corporation in its home market of North America, it wasessentially a cut-down TS2068.
The TS2048 retained the 2068's improved ULA and enhanced graphics modes, and had abuilt-in Kempston-compatible joystick interface, but in most other respects resembled the basic Spectrum: no sound chip and only48 K of memory.
This did, however, mean that it was much more compatible withSpectrum software than its more capable sister machine.

Timex of Portugal, no doubt encouraged by the Spectrum's popularity in Europe, continued to sell the TS2068 and offered the TS2048 as the TC2068 and TC2048 in parts of Europe, notably Portugal and Poland (got this info from two fellows from each of those countries who mentioned that the Timex computers were very popular there).

My dad had bought for me a Sinclair ZX81 with 1KB memory and a 16KB RAM pack.
Later on, he had given me a Timex/Sinclair TS2048, which featured color, sound, and 24KB ROM and 48KB RAM.
In addition, he bought a 'stringy floppy' device which was used streaming tape cartridges to store programs on.
