Transistor-transistor logic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
TTL became popular with electronic systems designers in 1962 after Texas Instruments introduced the 7400 series of ICs, which had a wide range of digital logic block functions.
TTL became important because it was the first time that low-cost integrated circuits made digital techniques economically practical for tasks previously done by analog methods.
TTL was historically considered significantly less sensitive to damage from electrostatic discharge than CMOS, although current CMOS designs now exhibit less static sensitivity than earlier designs.

RFC 3682 (rfc3682) - The Generalized TTL Security Mechanism (GTSM)
The TTL must either be 255 (for a directly connected peer), or 255-(configured- range-of-acceptable-hops) for a multi-hop peer.
TTL (Hop Limit) Spoofing The approach described here is based on the observation that a TTL (or Hop Limit) value of 255 is non-trivial to spoof, since as the packet passes through routers towards the destination, the TTL is decremented by one.
Tunneled Packets An exception to the observation that a packet with TTL of 255 is difficult to spoof occurs when a protocol packet is tunneled to a decapsulator who then forwards the packet to a directly connected protocol peer.

TTL - a Whatis.com definition - see also: time-to-live   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
Time-to-live (TTL) is a value in an Internet Protocol (IP) packet that tells a network router whether or not the packet has been in the network too long and should be discarded.
Since each router is required to subtract at least one count from the TTL field, the count is usually used to mean the number of router hops the packet is allowed before it must be discarded.
Using the multicast IP protocol, the TTL value indicates the scope or range in which a packet may be forwarded.

RFC 3443 (rfc3443) - Time To Live (TTL) Processing in Multi-Protocol Label   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
TTL processing in both Pipe and Uniform Model hierarchical tunnels are specified with examples for both "push" and "pop" cases.
TTL processing in MPLS networks can be broken down into two logical blocks: (i) the incoming TTL determination to take into account any tunnel egress due to MPLS Pop operations; (ii) packet processing of (possibly) exposed packets and outgoing TTLs.
TTL Processing in different Models This section describes the TTL processing for LSPs conforming to each of the 3 models (Uniform, Short Pipe and Pipe) in the presence/absence of PHP (where applicable).

Difference between M6 and M6 TTL?
The TTL flash sensor may or may not mean anything to you depending on whether you use flash a lot; I don't think most Leica shooters care very much.
If you're running around with the TTL securely in your hand or leaving it resting on the shelf -- but not using it for hours on end -- you can leave the time settings just as they were for the last shot, until, of course the sun goes down...
For me it is important, but you will get use too ttl if you choose one.But one again the meter of the classic is good enought and don't run battery when you use it, however if it is not on B position.

TTL Flash Metering Sensor: The TTL flash metering sensor (positioned in the camera's mirror chamber and aimed at the film plane) is used for A-TTL and TTL flash readings off the film plane during exposure.
A-TTL also uses a preflash, but unlike E-TTL, the preflash is used to calculate an aperture value based on the distance that light must travel from the flash to the subject.
TTL (Through-The-Lens) is the automatic flash exposure control mode used by the small pop-up flash units built into some EOS cameras.

Appendix A - BIND TTL Values
TTL in the DNS context defines the duration in seconds that the record may be cached.
The default TTL for the zone is defined in BIND9 by the $TTL directive which must appear at the beginning of the zone file i.e.
RFC 1912 recommends that the $TTL value be set to 1 day or longer and that certain RRs which rarely change, such as the MX records for the domain, use an explicit TTL value to set even longer values such as 2 to 3 weeks.

 74LS TTL Components
The TTL family of integrated circuits was introduced about 20 years ago by Texas Instruments.
TTL stands for Transistor Transistor Logic, which signifies that two transistors are used to drive each output of each chip, one for pulling the output down to a low level, and one for pulling the output up to a high level.
It is interesting to note that, in each generation of the TTL family, the low power representative of that generation is about 3 times slower than the other member, but consumes about 1/10 the power.

 TTL (Time To Live)
All DNS records have a TTL property, specifying the amount of time other DNS servers and applications are allowed to cache the record.
When a DNS record is stored in the cache of a DNS server, the record's TTL is continuously reduced as time go by, and when the TTL finally reaches zero the record is removed from the cache.
Setting a record's TTL to zero, means that applications and DNS servers are not allowed to cache the record.

 TTL - LinuxQuestions.org Wiki
The purpose of the TTL is to ensure the mortality of packets.
TTL values depend on the operating system that sent the packet.
The TTL is used by the traceroute program to measure the path a packet takes, by sending a probe with a TTL of 1, making the first node in the route report an error and thus making itself known.

 Time To Leave 2.1
Most people don't have time and memory to remember all the files they left in every corner of their computer, and all cleanup manager don't touch such files, as they are not temporary, junk or garbage.
It is user friendly, you don't need to run TTL ("Time To Leave") each time, you want to set the lifetime of your file or folder.
TTL can do this for you - you can just mark file or folder as "sacrificed", after you downloaded it, and don't worry about the disk space it consumes - if it is still here, you have no problems with free space.

Using a polarizer effectively without TTL control
To guarantee workable TTL control with a rangefinder in all conditions, you'd have to carry an LCD shade.
If the direction of maximum polarization is within ~45° of the horizontal, and you happen to be wearing polarized sunglasses, pan and tilt your head until you get maximum effect, then match the pan with your camera angle and align your polarizer's blocking direction with the right-left axis of the glasses.
To use a polarizer effectively without TTL control, you must first find and if necessary mark your polarizer's blocking axis, which may or may not align with a white dot or other symbol on the polarizer's outer rotating ring.

Discussions @ Nikonians - sb 28 FP and TTL?
I don't think TTL in FP mode is possible at high shutter speeds with a focal plane shutter.
To overcome this problem, when the flash is in FP mode, it fires a series of flashes that covers the time it takes the focal plane slit to move across the frame.
In normal TTL mode the flash is quenched when proper exposure is obtained.
