TV3, together with 8TV and local English daily the New Straits Times and Malay daily Berita Harian form the largest media group in Malaysia, collectively known as Media Prima.
TV3 currently broadcasts under UHF (Ultra High) Frequency, although it is also available in the Klang Valley under VHF (Very High) Frequency band III Channel 12 (TV3 initially started transmission in the Klang Valley on VHF Band III Channel 12).
TV3 is currently the only channel in Malaysia that still carries Teletext signal.

TV3 said it would adhere to the National Fatwa Council's decree and cease all SMS contests.
A spokesman for TV3 said the station would seek further advice from the National Fatwa Council and the Finance Ministry on the guidelines, and a definition of SMS contests that had elements of gambling forbidden in Islam.
TV3 would, however, continue with polling or voting via SMS on its news programme, Buletin Utama, as these were not thought to fall under the scope of the fatwa, the spokesman said.

Malaysia's Deputy Information Minister, Datuk Zainuddin Maidin, says that in future Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) will broadcast 24 hours if any natural disaster like an earthquake or a tsunami occurs.
In addition to the establishment of the fund, an entourage comprising 50 TV3 and 8TV employees, led by Media Prima Berhad’s group managing director and other senior executives, visited the affected states and distributed goods in kind worth US $13,160 while renowned counsellors and local celebrities were present to offer moral support to the survivors.
Several TV3 in-house programmes were also present on-site throughout the activities to provide `live’ telecast and crossovers as well as up-to-date coverage on the tsunami tragedy.

Kofi Totobi Quakyi, former Minister of Information, on whose instructions the GFIC was allegedly divested, has flatly denied his active involvement in the exercise; He insists that Emmanuel Agbodo, former Executive Secretary of the Divestiture Implementation Committee (DIC), is the best man to throw light on the issue.
Totobi, the Statesman learnt, told the panel of investigators from the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) that any discrepancies arising out of the divestiture of GFIC should be blamed on the DIC which has the singular duty of divesting state-owned enterprises.
But when Agbodo appeared before the panel, he told the investigators that his “hands were tied” as the DIC was not involved in the divestiture of Ghana’s prized assets in GFIC to TV3 Malaysia.
