TV3 (Catalonia) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
TV3 is the name of Catalonia's first public television channel.
TV3 is also a founding member of FORTA, the Federation of Autonomic Radio and Television Organizations of Spain.
TV3 started its trial broadcasts on September 11, 1983 (the National Day of Catalonia), but its regular broadcasts started a few months later, on January 16, 1984.

Minority   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-31)
TV3 started daily transmissions in January of 1984 and subsequently, at the end of 1984, the Autonomous Government of Catalonia was granted direct control of TV3 by Royal Decree from the Spanish Crown.
TV3 is financed by a subsidy from the Generalitat, and also receives revenue from advertising and profits from sales.
Many of these languages have little or no television provision and, where such provision does exist, it is generally at the most one or two channels (frequently not exclusively in the minority language), with the channels having to aim at as broad a sweep of the population as possible.

 Símbols nacionals: La llengua catalana
The legal framework on language in Spain is to be found in the 1978 Constitution, mainly in article 3, and in the statutes of autonomy of Catalonia, Valencia, the Balearic Islands and Aragon.
It is implemented in Catalonia through the 1998 law on language policy (which replaces the 1983 law), in the Balearic Islands through the 1986 law on language policy and in Valencia through the 1983 law on the use and teaching of Valencian.
During the first 30 years of the 20th century, Catalonia went through a period of political fervour, culminating in the recovery of a degree of political power in the Generalitat (the Government of Catalonia) during the 1930s.

Television, National Identity, and the Public Sphere,
Thus, the hypothesis set forth is that the issue of national identity in Scotland and Catalonia is manifested and accentuated when issues are exposed which directly affect their socio-politic and cultural contexts (issues of language, politics, habits, and cultural assignment).
This forces both STV and TV3 to act as a result of this pressure; the immediate consequence is a design of programmes which are competitive on the market, popular, and within reach of the majority audience.
In Catalonia, the existence of a solid audio-visual structure and the progressive consolidation of the use and understanding of Catalan helped to define attitudes and limits to these issues.

The Generalitat is Catalonia's autonomous regional government, and Huguet is a member of the radical separatist party ERC, the Republican Left of Catalonia.
It must be said Catalonia has received a great deal of immigration in the past 50 years but that native Catalans have always spoken Catalan as their first home language regardless of the treatment the language has received from Spain for most of the past 300 years.
Catalonia's regional government, the Generalitat, is studying whether it can take legal action against several media outlets which supposedly called for a boycott of Catalan products, and will ask the central government to take a side in the dispute.

North Catalonia is within the French State, and the number of Catalan speakers is falling there.
In the Autonomous Community of Catalonia, the four radio stations which form part of CCRTV- Catalunya Ràdio*, Catalunya Música*, Catalunya Informació and Ràdio Associació de Catalunya*- broadcast entirely in Catalan, as does Radio 4, which is part of the public body Radiotelevisión Española (RTVE).

Why, Catalonia, according to a group of intellectuals who are calling for a new political party to “restore realism” to a land of seven million people, millions of whom, say the group, are entirely unrepresented in Catalonia’s political and civic institutions, creating a major democratic deficit.
It is worth remembering that one of the traditional criticisms by the left of the previous conservative government was that they were incapable of efficient management of the available resources and claimed political persecution in order to hide their administrative failings.
The growing isolation of Catalonia from the rest of Spain and its noticeable loss of prestige amongst Spanish citizens seem not to have halted this decline.
