Topic: Tabaeen

  Encyclopedia: Salafi
In Islamic termonology the word Salaf refers to the Companions of the Prophet Muhammad (known as the Sahaba in Arabic), the students of the Companions (the Taba'een), and the students of the students of the Companions (the taba Taba'een.
The Tabaeen (or Followers) are the generation of Muslims that came after the Sahaba.
Salafis themselves insist that their beliefs are simply pure Islam as practiced by the first three generations of Muslims and that they should not be regarded as a sect.

Those Sahaba of Ibn Abbas from Makka and Mina, remained firm on the position that Mut'ah was Mubah (permissible), and Ibn Jazm states those people remained firm on the positions that Mut'ah was halaal after the death of Rasulullah(s) were Abdullah bin Masud, Mu'awiya, Abu Saeed, Ibn Abbas.
More over, the above names are not of Taba’een but they are Sahabah radhiyAllahu 'anhum, and we don’t see any witness from authentic sources that Abdullah ibn Mas’ud, Mu’awiyah, Abu Sa’eed radhiyAllahu 'anhum remained at their position to support mut’ah till the end.
When these Tabaeen heard fatwa of Ibn Abbas on permissibility of Muttah, they doubted him.

If a person does not perform these self-innovated rites — flags, sweets, processions and lighting, but he adheres to the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wasallam), he is undoubtedly a real love and he does not need to give a proof of his love.
Books of Hadith, Seerah and Islamic history are witness that none of the Sahaba, Tabaeen, saints, `Ulama and Islamic jurisprudents ever adopted the ways for expression of love that we have adopted and made them part of Shari`ah.
We celebrate the birth of Prophet while they followed the ways of Prophet.
