Tabiteuea is the collective name for two neighbouring islands in the (The largest ocean in the world) Pacific Ocean, Tabiteuea North and Tabiteuea South.
The islands lie in the country of (An island republic in the west central Pacific just south of the equator) Kiribati, south of (Battles in World War II in the Pacific (November 1943); United States Marines took the islands from the Japanese after bitter fighting) Tarawa.
Tabiteuea North has a land area of 26 km² with a population of 2,990 (additional info and facts about as of 2001) as of 2001, while Tabiteuea South has a land area of 12 km² and a population of 1,293.

Private enterprise is unlikely to establish a vigourous a foothold here as it has done in Butaritari for example.

From there we will make for Tabiteuea which lies about 230nm Southeast of Tarawa.
We will probably stay in Tabiteuea fro a week or ten days (which should have us departing that atoll on or about May 20th).
From there we have about 500 miles to reach Funafuti in the nation of Tuvalu (formerly the Ellice Islands colony of Britain) so we should be there on or about the 24th of May. We will probably remain in Tuvalu for a week as well and then depart on the final leg for Fiji.

The average thickness over the entire lens was 3.1 m for Abatao and 2.9 m for Tabiteuea.
The estimated potential sustainable yields of the freshwater lenses are 240 m3/day and 230 m3/day for Abatao and Tabiteuea, respectively.
