Topic: Taboo (album)

Black Eyed Peas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Their breakthrough album, Elephunk, was released in 2003, featuring a new female vocalist, Stacy "Fergie" Ferguson previously a cast member of Kids Incorporated and a member of teen pop band Wild Orchid.
The album subsequently spawned "Shut Up", which peaked at UK #2 (despite being referred to by one reviewer as "the single most vacuous, pointless, vile and generally loathsome song in a generation") and topped the charts in many other European countries including France and Germany.
The album's first single, "Don't Phunk With My Heart", was a major hit in the US peaking at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Taboo Tunes Gallery - Music Censorship
Had this album of a 1970 Hendrix concert performance been issued by a legitimate record company – rather than by a shadowy bootleg label, Rubber Dubber Records – the Coca Cola company would clearly have had an air-tight trademark-infringement case on their hands.
When this album was released by Universal in 1994, the cover image of a woman’s flag-bikini bottom (replete with potentially unpatriotic pubic hair sprouting over the top) caused an immediate uproar.
It was purely the "luck of the draw" that resulted in Dream Theater seeing their latest album – the 3-CD set, Live Scenes From New York (replete with cover-art showing the NYC skyline and WTC towers engulfed in flames) – being assigned a release date of September 11th, 2001.

Taboo was released in early 1958, and it immediately became an international hit — the album spent 62 weeks on Billboard charts, peaking at number four.
The gentle ballads on this album seem to be Lyman's most comfortable setting as a soloist — his melodic phrasing fits each song perfectly.
Most importantly, the album opens with a bright version of "Mele Kalikimaka." Of course, no one does an island Christmas better than Lyman and his group — their ukuleles and conch shells ensure the perfect blend of yuletide and riptide.

TABOO showcases Lyman's distinctive vibe playing while conjuring images of the islands through his use of bird calls and Harold Chang's percussion on congas, boobams, ass's jaw and conch shell, among other instruments.
As it featured the same cover image as TABOO, it is often mistaken for the CD reissue of Lyman's debut album.
In fact, the hifi/Rykodisc album represents the first authentic rerelease of this lounge music classic as it presents its original track listing on CD for the first time.

Playbill News: Taboo Will Get a Cast Album
There is a some speculation in the theatre community that with a new creative team, a freshly-realized Taboo might very well have potential as a road vehicle targeted to thirty and fortysomethings who grew up admiring Boy George and his passion for reinvention, pansexuality and pop tunes.
Taboo was produced by Rosie O'Donnell and Adam Kenwright in association with Daniel MacDonald, Lori E. Seid and Michael Fuchs.
Taboo began performances at The Plymouth Theatre (236 West 45 Street) on Oct. 28, 2003 and opened on Nov. 13, 2003.

Since we were not all lucky enough to see the show (or the British original), understanding the story was not obvious.
The original UK version, set in the 80's, has a runaway kid, Billy, discovering the world of alternative bars like Taboo, where colorful characters like Philip Sallon, Marilyn and Boy George were dwelling.

 Taboo Blue CD Review
The title track of the album (which is also reprised as a closer) initially reminded me a bit of the Stranglers, mainly due to the way that the keyboards provide the foundation and drive the tune along.
The songs on the album are almost evenly split between the two basic styles, so with a bit of careful programming you could even listen to the different styles individually.
Taboo Blue almost seem a bit Jekyll and Hyde-ish with the two fairly contrasting sides to their music.
