After the debut of Ogre Battle on the PSX and N64 many years ago, the entire Ogre Series crawled under the rock from which in came and stayed there for a long, long time.
Since Tactics Ogre continues a story spanning several games, the plot at the start of the game is about 30% done, and isn’t even finished by the end of the game Also, as with most Squaresoft games, the story unfolds like a mystery novel, with twists and turns to keep the player wondering.
Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis has one major downfall: the battles are way too long, much longer than battles in Final Fantasy Tactics.

For the uninitiated, Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis is another installment in a long line of games in what is coming to be know as the Ogre Battle Saga.
An Ogre Battle game was also released for the Playstation, and suffered a similar fate, falling off of the sales charts, but finding a place in many gamer's hearts.
What made the series so fascinating was a continuing storyline that was added to in each of the games, contributing to an epic tale that looks to be as ambitious a story ever undertaken in a video game series (some series, like Final Fantasy, have more installments, but their stories aren't connected).

Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together takes place, from what I gathered, a few years after the formation of the Zetegenian empire.
Tactics Ogre begins in a small docks village in Walsta, where two teenagers, Kachua and Brodie (you can name the latter character whatever you wish - I chose Brodie), join a team of five knights from Zenobia lead by the Holy Knight Lans in an attempt to reclaim the Walstanian State from the imperialistic Gargastans.
Perhaps the most annoying flaw in Tactics Ogre is the relative ease of losing characters, and how time-consuming it is to replace them afterwards.

Tactics Ogre is very menu-driven and there is a lot of dialogue.
While it's impressive that the same graphics can be achieved on a GBA (although I donït think Tactics Ogre was pushing the Playstationïs processor very hard), it's also a little disappointing that Atlus would just rest on their laurels.

Tactics Ogre Gaiden may only be a bit of an upgrade to the last Tactics Ogre game.
Tactics Ogre Gaiden also takes the terrain into account because factors like the height of the ground will effect attacks compared to where the enemy is.Also, don't expect some battle scene to break out because the fighting takes place in the same maps as wandering around does.

Having played Tactics to death, I also found the equipment selection in KoL to be rather meager, and the classes not quite as exciting.
With just a few in Ogre, battle flow is somewhat more straightforward - maybe this is just all that can be done on the GBA, but I doubt it - time will tell.

Ogre Battle also got released in the US on N64, but I prefer Tactics Ogre.

This is another piece in the War of the Black Queen saga, in which both Tactics Ogre (for the Playstation) and Ogre Battle (originally released for the Super Nintendo, re-released as a limited edition on Playstation) are pieces as well.
They all have no relation, other than taking place in the same continent, and same world, although Tactics Ogre has a few main heroes from Ogre Battle (Canopus is the first one that comes to mind), yet you don't see any of them here in Tactics Ogre : The Knights of Lodis.
The story is along the same lines as all the other Ogre Battle/Tactics Ogre style story lines: There is a great evil in the world, and that you, the main hero, must help stop it.
