Blocking, punching, striking, thrusting and kicking are among Teakwondo Poomsae, and these are properly carried out with hands, fists and feet to the vital sport of the body or target at which they are aimed, and the stances accordingly change forward stance, back stance, cat stance and horseriding stance, etc. as the situation requires.
Taekwondo Poomsae is meant by a "Form" in which a self-practice is devised to be performed in following the lines of movement in a systematic and consecutive way against an imaginary opponent or multi-opponents by using various Taekwondo technics of hand and foot.
TAEGUK: This represents the most profound oriental philosophy from which philosophical views on the world, cosmos and life are derived.

Origins of the Taeguk Symbol - Asia Finest Discussion Forum
The origins of Taeguk symbol can go back to prehistoric times, when spiral symbols resembling that of a storm were engraved on Korean goindols(dolmens).
It was probably influenced by the Chinese taiji symbol in the 14th century during the Chosun Dynasty, which was a neo-Confucian state, and evolved into the red and blue Taeguk symbol as it is depicted on the Korean flag.
The Korean flag is influenced by Chinese philosophy, but the Taeguk symbol is something that has been held traditionally for centuries, even before the first Chinese taiji was drawn.

Overall I like the Palgwe's, but Taeguk Yuk Jang is actually one of my favorite forms.
Except that the people who do one set usually do the other with these; the taeguks are the post-flbelt WTF patterns while the palgwe's are the pre-flbelt ones, if I remember correctly.
I had to summon all of my willpower to stop from laughing out loud, but when I looked over at the masters' desk, I saw all three masters immediately put their hands over their mouths, shoulders shaking from laughter.

Performing this Taeguk/Palgwe, one should be aware that this is the last Taeguk/Palgwe to be learned, it also is the end of a circle, and therefore it is also the first, the second etc...
Both Palgwe's and Taeguk's are numbered from one to eight.
The patterns below follow the Poomse Taeguks as well as the Poomse Palgwes.

FightingArts Forums: Application of WTF Taeguk taekwondo poomsae
Add to this void of kata knowledge the fact that the Taeguks were created not to teach combat but as a means of seperating TKD from the Conformity device of the japanese invaders (aka karate) and you have a bunch of forms that mean next to nothing as far as actual fighting goes.
If u break down and practice the taeguk forms with a view to fighting then you will fight with them; they are just karate basics and so they work as well as karate basics do (all though a number of the combinations are questionable).
My gripe is just that they lack the same depth mainly because of how obviously they try to get away from their ancestry.

The dojang where I trained taught both the ITF and WTF Poomse, which included 8 Taeguk and 8 Palgwe forms.

The dojang I attend teaches taeguks, palgwe, and chang hom forms.

Inspired by the emblem that situates itself in the middle of the South Korean national flag, local industrial designer Kim Young-se takes the simple lines of the 'taeguk' and plays it into a ACME collection that is made up of a set of cuff links, a business card case and pen.
And starting this season the line inspired by the Taeguk motif will be found in museum shops all around the world along with the collections of Frank Lloyd Wright, Vernor Panton, Andy Warhol, Keith Hering and others.
