 Taekido
In Australia, Taekido is a combination of the full techniques of Taekwondo and Aikido.
Taekido courses separate children's and adult's classes, where most of Taekwondo side of the art are taught to coluored belts; and Aikido aspects are taught after getting the fl belt levels.
It must be understood that studied in earnest, Taekido is more than a science of tactics and self defence, it is a discipline for perfecting the spirit.' -- extract from the website, by Sensei Rodney Day.

 Welcome to the Taekidokai Webpage
My name is Sensei Rodney Day and I am a 6th dan fl belt with over 35 years of martial art experience, with a background in Budokan Karate, Goshinryu, Hapshinryu, Taekwondo and Aikido, I teach throughout Australia, passing on what I believe is a unique understanding of Taekido to Instructors and students.
Students can enjoy classes throughout New South Wales, the ACT and New Zealand under the direction of what I believe to be the finest group of Instructors my many years of martial art training has enabled me to meet.
Taekido is a true Martial art, it is known for it’s dramatic flying and spinning kicks, holds, throws and locks.

About the ATF   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-13)
Originally Taekido was a lone Dojang, which combined old school Tae Kwon Do, and Hapkido into one system with influence from several other arts.
Today however, the term ‘Taekido' has developed into a designation for any art that combines Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido or a Korean based art with influence from non-Korean sources.
The main considerations are that the art is solely or primarily self-defense based rather than sport and wishes to use the Taekido designation to separate and identify what they truly teach.

Last time I went to watch the Taekido grading, I saw that 7th kup or up are doing ITF Taekwondo patterns, but 8th kup has their own pattern.
Not sure if this is the right place for this or not, but seeing as taekido is taken from taekwondo, i thought it might be the best place for it.

My weekend free was generally okay, with Debbie's birthday party, lots of time with my gf, taekido, watched the movie Zathura and the swift house appraisals, which prompted me to clean up and I felt I did very well.
Therefore, I am unable to grade for taekido, as my doctor said my arm won't be completely repaired for -another- 2 months.
And taekido last night was good, Hanshi seemed a bit sick when he arrived, I hope he's ok. I can't imagine taekidokai without him.

Now, as far as the style is concerned, it's called "Taekido".
I was told that taekido is taught by a grandmaster out of Idaho who has multiple belts in Aikido, Tae Kwon Do, and another art (which I'm not remembering at the moment).
This Paterok guy is strictly Taekwondo and Karate, and German to boot, so there might actually be two 'grandmasters' out there who picked the same name.

Even though I was having a miserable and sad day yesterday, I could never consider leaving taekido.
I mean, I spent a lot of time last night wondering why I train and what my motivation is for continuing but sometimes when it gets tough you need to remind yourself of why it's worth it.
I've heard taekido described as a family, and it really is. I hope my family likes their new forum ;)

Reading this article(and others) I must say that this sounds like really soft-core Hapkido(I'm no expert, and am only going by what articles say.
I guess the point of this art is to give the student TKD and Aikido training for the price of one.
I am very near Canberra (Australian Capital Territory region) and will see if I can find out about Taekido around here and report back if and when I get anything.
