Tafresh has provided Iran with many notable figures such as ministers, statesmen, scientists, calligraphers etc. Professor Mahmoud Hessaby, the father of modern physics in Iran, Ahmad Parsa the father of Iranian botanics and Abbas Sahab, the father of Iranian geography and Abdolkarim Qarib, the father of Iran's geology were all Tafreshis.
Three universities are situated in Tafresh, namely the Tafresh branch of the Amirkabir University of Technology, the Tafresh Azad University and the Tafresh branch of the Payame Noor University.

 Young researchers invent robotic system to feed fishes
TEHRAN, Oct. 17 (MNA) – Two Iranian young researchers have made a robotic system which would be applied as an automatic fish feeding in the pools.
The two designers of the project were Ali Anvaari and Javad Haqiqi from Amir Kabir University of Technology located in the city of Tafresh.
The robotic system is able to adjust the type and weight of fish food, a favorite speed for pouring food into the pools, and arrange the time of feeding, said Anvaari.
