The whole Tai area was originally a federation of twelve Tai states called Sippsong Chau Tai, which means the twelve Tai states.
There is a head for every chau but there never appears to have been a king or anything of the kind common to all the twelve Tai states, but apparently they formerly formed a federation.
Most of the Tai people appear to have an ambilineal structure, and one would like to know whether the central lineage group could be the one from which the chief of the muong was taken and whether the nobility belonged to his family or kin.

Cheung Chau Bun Festival of Tai Chui
The small island of Cheung Chau lays claim to the one and only bun festival in the world, and for that matter, perhaps the entire universe.
One would think that fame would follow such an extraordinary claim but unfortunately its notoriety is only recognised by the locals of Hong Kong and a few tourists that take the short ferry trip from Victoria Harbour to Cheung Chau.
This festival is, as are so many others, dedicated to soothing the restless spirits of ghosts - not ancestral ghosts - nope, we're talking about the ghosts of pirate victims who some how managed to find their way to the most peaceful, serene and quiet place within commuting distance of Hong Kong's financial district.

Since 1990, following a consultancy study on the environmental impact of marine finfish cage culture in Hong Kong, it has been agreed by concerned government departments, that in the process of determining whether a new site is suitable for designation as a fish culture zone, an EIA should be conducted.
A detailed EIA on setting up a new fish culture zone north of Tung Lung Chau was conducted in 1991 for relocation of the mariculture operations in Tin Ha Wan fish culture zone, which had to be cleared for land development.
For clearance of the Tin Ha Wan fish culture zone, a nearby site suitable for fish culture (Tung Lung Chau north) was designated as a new fish culture zone for relocation of the operations in the Tin Ha Wan fish culture zone.
