  Tai Mo Shan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tai Mo Shan (大帽山, literally meaning "Big Hat Mountain") is the highest mountain in Hong Kong, with an altitude of 958 m.
It is located to the north of Tai Lam Country Park and, separated by Shek Kong Valley is the Lam Tsuen Country Park with an area of 15.20 km².
Visitors in country parks are asked to help keep the parks clean and prevent hill fires so that the facilities can he enjoyed by all.

Tai Mo Shan Country Park is situated entirely in an area of volcanic origin; Shing Mun is also largely of volcanic derivation with only the east bank of the Shing Mun Reservoir composed of Needle Hill granite; Tai Lam is of volcanic origin in the eastern part and granitic for the rest.
The granites of Tai Lam vary in age from the oldest known in Hong Kong (Tai Po granodiorite) to the youngest (Needle Hill granite).

If this second new trail is opened, Tai Lam Country Park will be the first mountain bike trail network in Hong Kong and will offer a full range of trails to cater to the abilities of all users, from families to downhill riders.
Glad to learn that a new trail is opened in the beautiful Tai Lam Country Park, but very disappointed to note that its use is restricted to weekdays and saturdays only.
Sundays and PH days are often the only chance riders have to get out in the parks, especially if we look at families riding together, which is the major selling point of the road network in Tai Lam.

I've just looked a bit closer at the HKMBA proposal for an expanded trail network around Tai Lam Country Park and I'm absolutly stunned by the amount of paved paths or roads in it.
Tai Lam Country Park is offering a large network of real mountain bike trail -- proper single tracks, ridge rides, stream crossings -- all what make MTB different to road riding.
