Tai-Kadai languages - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Tai-Kadai languages, also known as Kadai or Kradai, are a language family found in Southeast Asia and southern China.
Rather, he suggests that the Kadai languages may be a branch of Austronesian that migrated from the Philippines to Hainan, and from there spread to mainland China, where the Daic branch was "radically restructured" under the influence of the Miao-Yao languages and Chinese.
It is sometimes suggested that they are related to the Austronesian language family, in a family called "Austro-Tai", or even part of a larger Austric superfamily.

Language families and languages - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Languages that cannot be reliably classified into any family are known as language isolates.
Thus, provincial dialects of Latin ("Vulgar Latin") gave rise to the modern Romance languages, so the Proto-Romance language is more or less identical with Latin (if not exactly with the literary Latin of the Classical writers), and dialects of Old Norse are the protolanguage to Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Icelandic.
Language families can be subdivided into smaller units, conventionally referred to as "branches" (because the history of a language family is often represented as a "tree" diagram).

EAST ASIAN LANGUAGE FACTS AND INFORMATION

Chinese morphology and word-forming principles have been carried over into these languages, so that it is not uncommon for Chinese-style compound words to be coined in Japanese from originally Chinese morphemes, and then borrowed into Chinese where they are used without Chinese speakers being aware of Japanese origin.
(Korean and Japanese are somewhat similar languages believed by some to belong to the same family; they share many features distinct from Sino-Tibetan and many other families.) Reconstruction of, Old_Chinese and ancient have suggested that these languages originally did not have morphemic tone, but later developed it.

The remainder of the Tai-Kadai family extends from Vietnam mainly north of the Red River (where the Nung and Tay languages are found), into the Chinese provinces of Guangxi (the Zhuang language), Guizhou (the Bouyei, Sui, and Gelao languages), and Hunan (the Kam language), to the island of Hainan (the Hlai and Be languages).

 AUSTRONESIAN LANGUAGES FACTS AND INFORMATION
Austronesian is one of the largest language families in the world, both in terms of number of languages (1244 according to Ethnologue) and in terms of the geographical extent of the homelands of its languages (from Madagascar to Easter_Island).
The internal structure of the Austronesian languages is difficult to work out, as the family consists of many very similar and very closely related languages with large numbers of dialect_continuums, making it difficult to recognize boundaries between branches.
The Malayo-Polynesian languages tend to use reduplication (repetition of all or part of a word, such as wiki-wiki), and, like many East and Southeast_Asian languages, have highly restrictive phonotactics, with small numbers of phonemes and predominantly consonant-vowel syllables.

A new theory of the genetic position of Tai-Kadai (=Tai and related languages) will be presented.
It will be argued that Proto-Tai-Kadai was not a sister language of Proto-Austronesian (Benedict) but a daughter of Proto-Austronesian, having some innovations in common with Malayo-Polynesian, and that the non-Austronesian vocabulary in Tai-Kadai is the result of relexification by a mainland language with Austroasiatic and/or Hmong-Mien affinities.
On the basis of evidence from historical sources as well as genetic research, I will argue that this view is not correct and that they are from southern origin.
