Taiidan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Taiidan are the antagonist faction in the original Homeworld game and are the opponents to the Kushan exiles, returning from their banishment.
The Taiidan Empire was founded more than three thousand years prior to the events in the game Homeworld, after a large galactic conflict caused hundreds of smaller governments, who had achieved interstellar travel through contact with the Bentusi, to consolidate into several large empires.
Fearing that the Taiidan would eventually come to dominate the Hiigaran Empire, and dissatisfied with the decision made by the Council, the Hiigaran Empire launched a military strike against the Taiidan homeworld.

Homeworld - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
After the departure of the Mothership, Kharak was attacked by the Taiidan, a large interstellar empire who now controlled the planet of Hiigara and viciously opposed the exiles' attempt to reclaim their homeworld owing to the exile's contractual details, which by now were several millenia old and completely forgotten.
The attack, however, provided dissidents within the Taiidan Empire a tangible reason to begin open and hostile rebellion against their existing Imperial government.
Over remaining levels of the game, the Kushan encounter other alien races, including the benevolent group of traders known as the Bentusi (The Unbound), and the hostile, fanatical and enigmatic Kadeshi, who seem to be a branch of the original Hiigarans that left the group during their exile.

The Taiidan had developed weapons that would cleanse the entire surface of a planet of any sign of life, and they were both prepared and horribly eager to use them upon those who had slain their emperor.
