Taiji played bass until 1992, when he and Yoshiki began to have disputes over songwriting style.
He was replaced by Heath, a quietly pretty but very talented bassist with a knack for industrial sounds.
They were the first Japanese band to play the Tokyo Dome, the first band to ever sell a million copies of an album in a day, the first band to stretch the limits of what was accepted, both onstage and offstage (hide's omnisexual antics being the subject of much amusement).

Taiji complained to Yoshiki that some of his songs that he had written with hide that were good weren’t accepted on the ‘Blue Blood’ album.
Taiji later assumes in his autobiography that Yoshiki was simply to tired to argue with him…or in my opinion didn’t want to waste his time doing so.
Taiji formed his own band DTR in 1994 and of course that didn’t work out and they disbanded soon after they were formed.

In August, Heath becomes the new bassist for X. This is also when they change their name to X JAPAN, apparently there was already a band named X in America.

J got his start in the music industry as founder and bassist of Luna Sea, a J-rock band near X-Japan proportions that sky-rocketed to an almost equal level of fame before breaking up sometime in 1997 (except I personally liked Luna Sea a-lot more than I ever did X-Japan).
Usually the guitars hog the spotlight while the bassist is over in the corner writing song lyrics the whole time or something.
To the point, J is quite possibly the most involved as well as skilled bassist I've seen out of Japan since Taiji of X-Japan.

 Favourite X Japan member
Whether or not he's a good bassist (which he IS) it's not enough to make a mark with me. There are many amazing musicians out there so whether or not he'll be my favorite relies a bit on stage presence, a bit on look, and a bit on the music.
Taiji was great and I think he did have stage presence, not as much as hide and YOSHIKI but at least more then pata and heath.
Taiji was e one wearing e cowboy hats most of e time??

X Japan is one of the Japanese 'visual bands,' in which makeup and costumes give the members a freakish, androgenous look, though they look normal now that they've become one of the most popular rock bands in Japan.
