Taitung City (Chinese: 台東市; Pinyin: táidōngshì; Wade-Giles: t'ai-tung shih; POJ: Tâi-tang-chhī) is the capital of Taitung County, Taiwan Province of the Republic of China.
It is on the coast of the Pacific Ocean.
Taitung was not settled by Han Chinese until the late 19th century.
