Taivalkoski is a municipality of Finland, it is located in the Province of Oulu and is part of the Northern Ostrobothnia region.
Taivalkoski was the home of famous writer Kalle Päätalo and tv-comedian Pekka Jalava.
Taivalkoski is also famous of beautiful river Iijoki, which runs through the central of the village.

Rautaruukki decided at the start of this year to restructure the operations of its rolling stock manufacturer Transtech to bring them in line with the unit's order book, and selling off the Taivalkoski Works is part of this programme.
The purchase of the Taivalkoski Works became possible when the Technology Investment Fund obtained a holding in Telatek Oy in August 1998.

North Atlantic Natural Resources AB (NAN) is pleased to report that exploration has commenced on the Koillismaa Project in northern Finland, located 600 kilometers north of the capital city of Helsinki.
The first target to be examined in detail by scout drilling is known as "Musta", located 45 kilometers north of the town of Taivalkoski.
The drilling program is aimed at investigating an airborne geophysical anomaly extending for two kilometers located in the vicinity of previously known copper, nickel, platinum and palladium mineralization hosted in layered intrusive gabbro rock.

Food Bank Executive Director Dan Taivalkoski said Thursday the net for the multi-venue music event last weekend stand at $28,400 but donations are still coming in.
Taivalkoski said attendance looked to be down about 400, but the food donations already stand at 9,000 pounds - up 2,000 pounds from last year - and he expects it will finally ring in at 11,000 to 12,000 pounds when all collections are finally turned in.

The Transtech unit, which is part of Rautaruukki’s Engineering Division, has today given notice to the staff of its Taivalkoski Works, because the negotiations with potential new owners have not so far been successful.
The employee negotiations were completed at the end of January and after that the redundancies of the 100 staff members have been put off a couple of times pending the outcome of the negotiations on the selling off of the works.
Should, in the meantime, the negotiations about the sales of the works lead to result, part or the entire personnel of the works can be employed by the new owner.

Our plan is to fly on Friday morning to Oulu, take a bus to Taivalkoski and spend a few days there, mingling with relatives and friends.
This Easter is the second to last weekend that I and Sanna can still travel with airplanes, as the pregnancy is on so late stages.
So, we were pondering on visiting Taivalkoski and Oulu up north, but there is a possibility for stewardesses strike and most of Finnish planes would stay on the ground.

Sanna and Aapo left to the northern Finland this morning and now the usual travelling arrangements of me on the trip and they staying at home have been reversed.

Aapo is still too small to stand sitting almost ten hours in the safety seat.
