Born and raised in Tajimi (a major center of Mino pottery), he was the youngest potter to win a prize at Nitten (an astonishing 19 years old).

A city assembly committee in Tajimi, Gifu Prefecture, passed a bill Monday to allow the city government to impose tax on waste delivered from Nagoya, which will be the first ordinance authorizing a city to levy a tax on another municipality.
The ordinance is likely to be enacted Dec. 14 at the city assembly's plenary session, assembly members said.

There's a famous shrine in Tajimi, Gifu that Tomomi and I decided to go to over the weekend.
It was only about a 45 minute drive from home and since it is free and some of the buildings are deisgnated as national treasures we thought we would go check it out.
Today's photos are from around the area where we parked, except the first one which was taken in Tajimi.
