Among its many shops are the Takashimaya department store and Kinokuniya, the largest bookstore in Southeast Asia.
Tenants in the office tower include Takashimaya Singapore, Books Kinokuniya, Metro, Ngee Ann Development, and a medical floor on Level 8 of Tower B. Many Singaporeans refer to Ngee Ann City as "Taka", a slang-abbreviation of the anchor tenant's name.
Takashimaya is not listed and occupies from Basement 2 to Level 4.

Takashimaya is also seeking early retirement volunteers among so- called regular employees to squeeze costs.
Takashimaya expects cost cuts to help it generate net income of 14.4 billion yen for the year to Feb. 28, 2005, compared with a loss last year.
