  Encyclopedia: Take 6
Take 6 evolved from a modest start in 1980 as an a cappella gospel group from a small Southern college.
Since 1991, Take 6 has released "He Is Christmas" (1992) and "Join The Band" (1994), and completed two tours: one in support of "Join The Band," and one in Japan, previewing "Brothers" (1996).
While pop music and Take 6 embrace constant change in expression and performance, the influence on Take 6's music, who they sing about and who they sing for, remains the same on "Brothers." It is a gospel, jazz, RandB-inflected statement of faith in the power of God.

Take 6 Biography and Update at SoulTracks
In the ultimate of paradoxes, by focusing on the narrow, seemingly out-of-vogue a cappella singing style, Take 6 has become one of the most versatile, broadly loved groups of the past 20 years, and has broken down a number of barriers between musical genres – particularly the lines between Jazz, Gospel and Soul.
Consisting of brothers Mark and Joey Kibble, Cedric Dent, Alvin Chea, David Thomas and Claude McKnight (brother of Brian), Take 6 was formed at Oakwood College in Alabama in the early 80s.
Take 6 also became a much sought-after vocal partner, appearing in a background role on dozens of albums, most notably Joe Sample’s Spellbound (singing “U Turn”) and Quincy Jones’s Back on the Block.

 Take 6 DVD-A review on AudioRevolution.com
Take 6 was formed in Alabama in 1985, and became a kind of turning point for fl male vocal groups – at once reminiscent of earlier times while at the same time pointing the way for later artists such as Boyz II Men (who have also enjoyed surround treatments in recent years).
Their truly a capella style, in which – at least until the mid-Nineties, I think – involved no instruments other than voice whatsoever, is ablaze with technical virtuosity, from the very first incredible faded-in chord of the first cut to the final notes, while their musical versatility makes them hard to categorize.
The material here ranges from a capella gospel to big-band jazz, and Take 6 demonstrates an impeccable sense of timing and rhythm that is seldom heard.

If a player plays a card that is LOWER than any of the current last cards in any row they 'take the hit' by picking up a row of their choice and their card becomes the first card in a new row.
