White Christmas (song) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The first public performance of the song was also by Crosby, on his top-rated CBS radio show The Kraft Music Hall in December 1941; that performance is not believed to have survived.
He recorded the song with the John Scott Trotter Orchestra and the Ken Darby Singers for Decca Records in just 18 minutes on May 29, 1942, and the song went on to become a mammoth hit single.
The song was also the title theme for the 1954 musical White Christmas, starring Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, and Vera-Ellen, which was the biggest-grossing film of 1954.

The song is traditionally sung during the seventh-inning stretch of a baseball game, in spite of the technicality that it is written from the perspective of someone not currently watching a game.
Note: this song should not be confused with "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" which is traditionally sung at baseball stadiums.
Take Me Out to the Ball Game is often sung at Major League Baseball games, and play of the sport in most venues has been accompanied by an organist for nearly a century.

Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out Song Reviews
Funny, such a popular song about one of the biggest events in world history, and i wonder how many people miss the meaning: poor man seeing his wife shot, and waiting for the shooter to 'take me out,' an act that would cost the world more than it could ever imagine.
I've plenty of songs that are better than this, which probably do have inner meanings and do inspire me. Take Me Out is, however, still a song that I enjoy to listen to every now and then.
Let me start out by saying their is virtually no originally in music these days.

I commissioned a song from Stew and it turned out to be one of the most meaningful, intimate gifts that I've ever given.
The song he writes is definitely not "off-the-rack, fill in some blanks." The song is really written with you and the portrait subject in mind, filled with personal references, and Stew's signature perfectly crafted pop-tunes, deft wordplay and emotionally insightful lyrics.

Songs are a bridge over troubled waters: You are at the point in "Lagaan" where you need to show how a team of rustic Indians is gearing up to beat the British at their own game – literally, their own game of cricket.
Songs are mini transfusions of culture: We all know this to be true of people today – it’s easier to convince someone to watch "Kisna" twice, back to back, than to get them to listen to a CD of, say, Raag Pahadi.
Songs do that, they sugarcoat things that are good for us but that we wouldn’t touch with a bargepole otherwise.

Taking advantage of a patchwork NC State offensive line, Tech stoned just about everything the Wolfpack wanted to do offensively in the third quarter.
Following a Deraney miss from 52 yards out on NC State's next drive, an attempt that came after an intentional grounding call on Davis, the Wolfpack had one last chance with two minutes remaining.

Take a Sad Song and Make it Better? (Do or Die)
Like 'farming for wildlife', it involves a species being "taken out of the economics of nature and brought into the economics of man [sic]"(65) and is heralded as "some kind of solution to the problems of human growth, both numeric and economic, without that growth having to stop".
This is of course at least in part a cultural construct, reflecting the political climate out of which it sprang as much as it does nature.
It has been pointed out that people respond to events rather than processes - particularly in spectacular society, where social phenomena are prised loose from their context and reproduced as disembodied and mystifying 'events'.

Godfrey Daniel : Take a Sad Song... - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
That the material -- from '60s mainstays such as Sly & the Family Stone, Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and the Beatles -- sounds so fresh here is a tribute to the band's anachronistic arrangements and facility with early rock & roll styles.
The take on "Proud Mary," for instance, pays tribute to both the original and the Ike & Tina cover, while sounding like something from an Alan Freed extravaganza.
Versions of "Hey Jude" bookend the album, and the closing take is a stirring, Righteous Brothers-like epic, a production gem that salutes masters Phil Spector, Brian Wilson, and George Martin.

Organizing her approach around the Holocaust, Silent Song reflects upon an image Schogt found, while searching for other things in the U.S. National Archives, of a young boy playing an accordion in Dachau.
Noting that these images of the boy and the other concentration camp prisoners are "in the public domain," she begins to investigate her own reasons for making images, and pushes herself to ponder more deeply the tangled processes of how individuals and cultures remember.
As in her two previous concise and poetic films, Silent Song suggests with a minimalist rigour the infinitude of the questions raised by acts of memory.

The creation of 'Take It Higher' as we’re calling it will be a big part this week’s show and will take you through the basics of creating a music track from scratch, using little more than £350 worth of software.
If this song does well it's not going to say anything about "how silly the pop/dance industry" is. What it IS going to say is how powerful the internet combined with TV is as a marketing tool, and how much people want to help their fellow man who is in trouble.
Seems to me that the donation of the proceeds is the main reason people are buying this track.
