His last film, in 1967, was a Mexican horror cheapie called “Autopsy of a Ghost,” which is almost impossible to find today.
Each film was budgeted at an affordable $220,000 to $240,000, they came in on time and without significant cost overruns.
Films earlier in the series, however, were not received so gladly by the censors.

David Allan Coe’s love-gone-bad tune “Take This Job and Shove It” became one of the most misconstrued singles in history, as it was popularly mistaken as a defiant workingman’s anthem, and made Johnny Paycheck both a star and, in the end, a caricature.
“Take This Job and Shove It” was certainly the anthem of the late ’70’s” John Morthland recorded in his wonderful book The Best of Country Music, and he wasn’t confining such a claim to the country music genre.

That refrain is likely to be heard increasingly as independent film producers and financiers continue to grapple with one of the most significant pieces of federal legislation related to film production in many years.
The most important provision of the Jobs Act is a ruling -- Section 181 -- that allows investors to write off 100% of their investment in the year their movie is made rather than amortize it over several years.
The "useful life" of a film, however, is relatively short, given that most movie sales take place in the first two years of its existence.

Inevitably, if the job you have is dehumanizing, then labour becomes shameful, and the movies start to explore the idea of "escaping from work." American Beauty is a nice example, with Kevin Spacey serving up one of the screen's great "Take this job and shove it" moments.

Gee, it makes us look like a bunch of farmers missing teeth, and have no idea what the english languague is. I'm a lawyer, Dubuque is thriving, the closest to this is my father in law, because he is a dribbling, depend wearing anus.
This film, which takes its title from the classic country ode to the workin' man, is no different; when it was made, country was cool, and the hillbilly/blue collar way of life was to be envied for its simplicity.

There are, of course, plenty of dated hillbilly blue collar sterotypes throughout the film (monster truck racing, junkyard backyards, trashed-out clunker cars, honky-tonk cry-in-your-beer country music, pointless bar fights, lady mud wrestling, and beer-swilling galore), but there are also more dramatic social comments on display.
Sadly, these scenes are not typical of the film as a whole, although there are good scenes sprinkled throughout.
Lacy J. Dalton and David Allen Coe both appear in the film as the owners of the local honky-tonk, and Johnny Paycheck (who made Coe's song a blue collar standard), cameos, as does country legend Charlie Rich.

It's one of the tragedies of the logistics of a hit song-driven music industry that Johnny Paycheck's legacy will be preserved by a single single, rather than the oft-forgotten sum of its parts.
