  Heizo Takenaka - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Heizo Takenaka (竹中平蔵 Takenaka Heizō, born March 3, 1951) is a Japanese economist and politician currently serving as Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications and Minister of State for Privatization of the Postal Services in the cabinet of Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi.
Takenaka was picked by Koizumi to become the Minister of State for Economic and Fiscal Policy in 2001.
Takenaka won his first election in 2004 and currently holds a proportional representation seat in the House of Councillors.

Takenaka was appointed as a Postal Reform Minister in 2004 for the privatization of Japan Post, operator of the country's Postal Savings system.
Takenaka has also held the portfolio of Minister of State for Postal Privatization since the first Koizumi cabinet.

In 1899 Toemon Takenaka (竹中 藤右衛門), 14th generation descendant of the original founder, established a branch office in Kobe and founded Takenaka Corporation as an official company.
The company grew more and more during the 20th century, its capital in 1909 was about ¥100.000, ¥6 million in 1938, ¥1.5 billion in 1959 and ¥50 billion in 1979; nowadays, Takenaka Corporation is a multinational company with offices in 18 different countries.
Its president is Toichi Takenaka (竹中 統一) (June 2004).
