The new Takenaka Tokyo Main Office Building has been constructed in Toyo-cho, and business there began from November 24, 2004.

In 1899 Toemon Takenaka (竹中 藤右衛門), 14th generation descendant of the original founder, established a branch office in Kobe and founded Takenaka Corporation as an official company.
The company grew more and more during the 20th century, its capital in 1909 was about ¥100.000, ¥6 million in 1938, ¥1.5 billion in 1959 and ¥50 billion in 1979; nowadays, Takenaka Corporation is a multinational company with offices in 18 different countries.
Its president is Toichi Takenaka (竹中 統一) (June 2004).

Takenaka Corporation held a 40-day design exhibition titled "From Midosuji" in the summer of 2006 on the first floor of the company's Osaka Head Office building in the Avenue "Midosuji" district.
This Exhibition displayed works by 16 architects who belonged to Takenaka Corporation from the 1920s to 1960s, forming the framework of the company's Design Division and occupying an important part of Japan's modern architectural history at its dawn.
The second part was a "Sixteen-work Exhibition of Contemporary Architecture: Takenaka Corporation's Present and Future," which displayed the company's recent works undertaken mainly in Osaka, along with people and teams supporting these projects and the methodologies employed in the processes.
