Takeover Records was formed a few years back by Yellowcard guitarist Ben Harper.
Takeover, in an effort to increase their exposure, has been putting out 3-way splits between artists on various record labels.
This song is very low-key, and the acoustic version doesn't have much of a spark to carry it.

WARNING! Bad Song Brain Takeover Alert!
My defense mechanism for getting a crappy song stuck in your head is to start singing "Queen of Hearts" - (Juice Newton version.) It's kind of like the old lady who swallowed a horse because she had swallowed a fly..
For me, the worst cases are when I barely know the song in question, so a single line gets stuck on a loop - not even the hook, just a random line from a verse - and I don't have a clue what follows it.
The version of the song I heard was (again, according to other members on ILx) the version by the anorak band.

CD Baby: GRASSHOPPER TAKEOVER: Elephant Dreams
IDM fused all that is genius of the terrible trio: perfect pop rhythms with extreme rock danceability, no-holds barred punked-out guitaring and drumming from Grubb and Boyce, McMann's smooth-like-butter bass, and catchy and intelligent lyrics and melodies.
After a two year, coast to coast national tour in support of IDM, GTO, more motivated than ever, returned not back to LA, but to their roots in Omaha where they purchased a home studio and set out to write an album that would define all that GTO was, is, and will be.
As one song after another made its way from the bowels of the super-consciousness the band's sound began to define itself in a way it never had before.

The Melvins "Hostile Ambient Takeover CD review on AudioRevolution.com
The first real song, ironically titled “Untitled,” is a continuation of the opening drum part, but it immediately breaks down into an ultra-heavy syncopated metal riff.
The song grinds along through the vocals, then ends with a futuristic and trippy synth outro that feels like something out of a college student film remake of “Halloween” before segueing back into the same drum pattern that opened the record.
When it finally comes time for the song to kick in, the studio tricks tend to fall away and the music becomes the focus.

Every Other Moment is an excellent six song EP and is an exciting precursor to the band’s follow up full length which is currently being produced by Mike Deming who is known for his great work with bands such as the Beachwood Sparks, Lily’s, and Apples in Stereo.
Their debut release, ‘Fashionable Driving Songs’, is filled with edible, streamline melodies, and clean male and female harmonies that travel across the shades of love, and the moods of human emotion.
Songs like "Skullcrusher" are good enough that your primary reaction to hearing them on this disc will be to wish that you had a decent recording of them -- which the band will no doubt provide, sooner or later.

NEW YORK (Billboard) - Musicians often voice political opinions in their songs, especially during an election year, but most hip-hop acts have remained quiet on the current political environment -- until now.

Undoubtedly the best song on "The Blueprint" is Takeover, a harsh condemnation of Nas Escobar and his weak mic skills.
The sampling and background music for Takeover are beautifully lifted from the Doors "Five to One" including the appropriately looped Morrison verse "Yeah, we're taking over, come on." Jay-Z totally and thoroughly dismisses Nas' claims that he unlawfully sampled a line from one of his songs.
Heart of the City is another great song that anchors the album referencing such diverse influences as The Fugees, The Fat Boys, Richard Pryor, and Ike and Tina Turner.

A good song parody should ideally be as easy to sing as the original song lyrics; the parody lyrics should flow well with the music.

This being said, HAT (Hostile Ambient Takeover) is a monumental release for the Melvins, being the first new studio album after a two-year maelstrom of archival live and compilation releases.
