		Takoradi is Ghana's main export port with around 500 vessel calls per year handling 65% of Ghana's exports.
		Takoradi is well-planned, with two breakwaters enclosing 220 acres (90 hectares) of sea with quay berths (5 multi-purpose and 3 dedicated berths) and lee facilities for loading bauxite and discharging oil.

		Takoradi, Sept. 11, GNA- Efforts to modernise operations at the Takoradi Port is yielding positive results and it is gradually becoming the preferred port for many shippers in West Africa.
		He was briefing a 19-member delegation of economic operators from Niger on the operations of the Takoradi Port and benefits users from the Sahelian regions would gain from it.
		Mr Asare-Ansah said even though the Niger business community was introduced to the Takoradi Port only two-and-half years ago, their determination to use the port as a preferred point of call had been very encouraging.

		Mr Haizel noted that Takoradi was faced with high unemployment rate and said if voted into Parliament he would fight hard to bring investors and industries into Takoradi to absorb the unemployed people and charged members of the Party to intensify their campaign in a peaceful manner.

		The Takoradi Port is to benefit from a 250-million dollar expansion and modernization programme to make it the first choice of call for port users in the West African sub-region.
