 | | Pest incidence Infestation of the tea mosquito bug (Helopeltis antonii Sign.) was observed in the cashew plantations at Kodimbady, Belal and Koila during 1996; at Aghanashini during 1997; and at Thagginathala and Talakad during 1998. |
 | | In the plantations of Talakad, the incidence of other pests such as leaf miner (Acrocercops syngramma M.), leaf and blossom weber (Lamida moncusalis) and leaf eating caterpillars was also observed. |
 | | Extent of variability The data indicated that the majority of the accessions had upright and open tree habits, tall growth, increased canopy spread, increased flowering intensity, mid season flowering (January-March), medium sized nuts, loose attachment of nut to apple, cluster bearing habits, and high yield potential. |
