Summary of Decameron tales - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Under the rule of Elisa, tales are told of those who have responded to a witticism directed at them, or told a witticism themselves, to escape destruction, danger or contempt.
In this story the main character Filippa is charged by her husband with adultery.
During the trial she pleads guilty, however she states that since no women aided in the drafting of the law and the punishment was aimed only at women, then she should not be put to death.

This charge extends to dictating the content of the stories for that day, so that there is a very loose organization to the tales (although adherence to this concept is not very strict).
The circumstances described in the Decameron are heavily infused with a medieval sense of numerological and mystical significance.
It is also interesting to note that a number of the stories contained within The Decameron would later appear in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales (however, it is not known whether Chaucer was directly familiar with Decameron).

The Miller's tale is indeed very funny, involving several tricks and a very dirty prank as a young wife conspires with her lover to make love to him right under her husband's nose.
When she does tell her tale, it is about the marriage of a young and virile knight to an ancient hag.
The stories range from ones that empower the wives, like the Wife of Bath’s Tale, and at the other spectrum, the Scholar’s tale, where the wife endures patiently and happily sadistic griefs that her husband tests her with, such as pretending to kill their children and pretending to divorce her.
