Tales of Destiny is Namco's first foray into the next-generation of RPG's, and it is apparent that they haven't lost their touch.
Tales of Destiny is the sequel to the popular, but Japanese only, Tales of Phantasia for the Super Famicom system.
Tales of Destiny is a very well made RPG and one of the best I've had the pleasure to play this year.

Titled "Tales of Eternia" in Japan, Tales of Destiny 2 is the story of two worlds, Inferia and Celestia, who face each other from across a magical barrier in the sky.
First, it must be mentioned that Tales of Destiny 2 accomplishes its primary goal in good form: to create a fun, somewhat stereotypical RPG with a fast-paced battle system, polishing up the groundwork laid by previous "Tales" titles.
Battles in Tales of Destiny 2 are action-driven affairs, which, in the default Semi-Auto mode, places you in control of the leading character.

Tales of Destiny 2 is easily confused with the name of the North American release of Tales of Eternia, Tales of Destiny II, which was renamed since the name "Eternia" is trademarked by Mattel (for the He-Man toys) in North America.
Tales of Destiny 2 employs the Tales of Series' characteristic style of combat, the LMBS (Linear Motion Battle System), in which the player controls the characters in real-time (as opposed to turn-based), and the characters perform actions on a two dimensional field.

Known in North America as "Tales of Destiny II", Tales of Eternia is a somewhat mixed bag of RPG development.
Sound-wise, Tales of Destiny II is nothing to write home about, with a collection of tracks that you'd likely find in a variety of 16-bit RPGs years ago.
With a sizable cast of likable characters, Tales of Destiny II is an excellent addition to veteran role-players who want to play something a little less menu-based and a lot more action-packed, with a plot that only slows a few times during the story's course.

When I was first introduce to this series with Tale of Destiny 1, I immediately fell in love with the gameplay, especially the battle system which was very unique.
The only downside to Tales of Destiny was that it was more a 16 bit rpg game then a 32 bit rpg game.
So with the promise of a Tales of Destiny 2 geared more toward the Playstation engine than the previous Tales of Destiny, fans like myself couldn't wait to get their hands on this game.

So when I decided to pick up Destiny 2 I was expecting the same result...and was pleasantly surprised by how it actually turned out.
As the title implies, Tales of Destiny 2 is a direct sequel to Tales of Destiny 1 and takes place 18 years after the exploits of Stahn and Co. You take control of Stahn and Rutee's son Kyle in his quest to become a "real hero".
The Tales games all accomplish this through the use of optional spoken dialgoues that are accessicible by pressing the select button (although I hear that the US versions of the games had this feature taken out for the most part).
