	Wikipedia:Talk page
		A few community standards do apply to talk pages, these are not to be taken strictly as "rules" but were evolved by users to make the talk pages more useful and easier to read.
		Talk page discussions can be much more humorous and POV than the typical article, but personal attacks don't do much to make articles better.
		In refactoring a talk page, one solid recommendation is to use the traditional wiki refactoring technique of adding a summary with whatever consensus we've arrived at the top, grouping separate discussion items together, and placing them towards the bottom.

	Wiki - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		A single page in a wiki is referred to as a "wiki page", while the entire body of pages, which are usually highly interconnected via hyperlinks, is "the wiki"; in effect, a wiki is actually a very simple, easy-to-use user-maintained database for searching or even creating information.

	Talk:Main Page - Wikitravel
		The Main Page gets cached so it gets served real fast (it gets hit about 100 times more than the average page on Wikitravel), and the cached page only gets re-generated when the actual Main Page article is changed (or a linked article is created or deleted, or a couple of other reasons).
		I've fought the good fight with IE's CSS, and I think the User:Wrh2/Sandbox page should be OK now, with the exception of the double-border around some of the news items (fixing that issue requires a template change that will affect the current main page).

	Lightning Talks
		It's a lot easier to plan and deliver a five minute talk than it is to deliver a long talk.
		These things are all interesting and worth talking about, but there might not be enough to say about them to fill up thirty minutes.
		The risk for the attendees is smaller: If the talk turns out to be dull, or if the person giving the talk turns out to be a really bad speaker, well, at least it's over in five minutes.

		I asked Egal and she said that the french pages should be prefixed with either "Francais:" or "Fr:".
		The web server has a function that, when there is a page that has multiple copy but all ending with a language code (ex.: index.html.en, index.html.fr, index.html.fr-CH, index.html.es) then it returns the file that match the language of the browser.
		I don't think that would work with the wiki - it would do a different index.php file for each language, what we want is a different page in the wiki database, and that has to be done by passing a different parameter to the script, not by finding a different index.php file.

		Speaking of messes, this talk page is a mess.
		That, paired with the entire bottom of the page seems to be good to me. The rest is, like other portal sites like Yahoo (and unlike single purpose sites like Google), pretty well aimed at people looking for things related to Davis, i.e., both visitors with a purpose and visitors looking to poke around.

		He may have recently had his userpage say that, BUT he's made something like 4000 or 4500 (I lost count) edits to wikipedia in the last 3 or so years, and his last userpage and his userbox/personal page are pretty extremely in-depth and he's a really committed wikipedian.
