Christian missions: Outreach to the nations, 1600 - present
The development of schools of world mission in theological seminaries and the lengthy bibliography of materials now available in the theology of missions should be enough to convince one that, as far as Christian missions are concerned, we are in the age of theology.
Words like missiology, syncretism, dialog, faith mission, indigenous church, people movements, cultural baggage and overhang, homogeneous unit and may others form an important part of the language missionaries use to talk about strategy, methodology, and even theology.

The catholic Christian tradition on this matter is far better than the secular Enlightenment principle announced by men such as Locke, whose views (e.g., here and here) have caused no small amount of havoc not just in secular politics, but in the Church as well.

Talk To Action The Christian Right, Dominionism, and Theocracy - Part Two
So Christian Reconstructionism was the most influential form of dominion theology, and it influenced both the theological concepts and political activism of white Protestant conservative evangelicals mobilized by the Christian Right.
I understand that Christian Reconstructionists are a subset of the larger group of dominionists, and I sort of understand the difference you describe between and hard and soft dominionists, which I gather is relevant to the distinction between dominionists and Reconstructionists although it isn't labeled as such, but my mind still fogs.
A number of Christian Right leaders read what the Christian Reconstructionists were writing, and they adopted the idea of taking dominion over the secular institutions of the United States as the "central unifying ideology" of their social movement.

Weekly Planet THIS WEEK IN TALK OF THE TOWN
Christian Reconstruction and dominion theology aren't new movements in the religious community.
That it was at odds with the great mass of Christian teachings was a matter of little concern for the Reconstructionists, who saw their heady mission as leading the new nation of God, and eventually presiding over all of the world's affairs.
Where many Christian churches were vocal in opposition to abortion, for example, Reconstruction-allied groups such as Operation Rescue were willing to field troops and attack the enemy.

A better way to think of a theology of glory is (only) in contradistinction to the theology of the cross (about which we do better to talk), that sees God working through weak and humble things: water, bread, wine, his own Son delivered into the hands of sinful men and killed a horrible death.

That is not because, as Cobb suggests, Christians had a negative attitude toward sex but because, by becoming Christian people, they understood that their true family was now the church.
Put differently, I think Cobb would like to be a postmodernist, but he remains caught in the discourse of modernity-discourse, for example, that would have us talk of "Christ events" in preference to Jesus Christ.

This can all be easily handled by appropriate introductions - list of popes can say "this is a comlete list of..." and list of atheists can say "this is a partial list of atheists, focusing on atheists who are particularly notable, famous, or important".

For this reason, I would prefer to talk less about theology or faith and more about what the Jews referred to as a halakah.
The only way your theology can be meaningful to others is if it actually makes sense with the way you practice life and if that way of life is worth pursuing.

PetersNet: Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, Greatest Mystery, The
Ratzinger's talk is fascinating because it takes up the great themes of the day: the nature of Church, the source of Church unity, the role of the papacy, the role of Councils, the legitimate and illegitimate types of ecumenism, and the role of the Church in the struggles for social and political justice.
Ratzinger then analyzes the meaning of the word "solidarity." He reminds us that this term was born not in a Christian environment, but in a socialist one that opposed "social solidarity" to "the Christian idea of love" as the new, rational and effective answer to social problems.
As Ratzinger surveys the current world scene, one sees that he is trying to use his Eucharistic theology of "communio" to create the basis for a new Catholic social teaching on the great 21st century issues of globalization, Third World debt, and the free market.

Ross is an individual in need of a serious rebuke and the Christian Church needs a well-documented rebuttal to the nonsensical theology and muddled science he passes off as scholarship in defense of progressive creationism.
Ross, whether intentional or not, fails to acknowledge the heavy reliance his apologetics have upon the viewpoints of materialistic atheists hostile to theism in general and Christianity specifically.
