Angel Swan's Worlds of Star Trek: Memorial Page - Noval Kiara
she was a very fun person to talk and sim with, we used to talk about how she would talk about going out with other women, then trying to hit on me, jokingly of course.
On Friday evening, September 16, 2005, members and friends of the Star Trek: United Forces role-playing (simming) organization met to pay tribute to a fellow gamer who had died only three days earlier, at the age of 19.
The memorial service was done in the manner of a tribute which united the real sadness in their hearts with the context of Star Trek role-playing enjoyed by their friend while she lived.

Literacy - Social Organization of Classes and Schools
Second, the social organization of schools and classrooms is a topic which, on its face, may not seem particularly new or essential to novices.
Of particular relevance to the matter of the social organization of schools and classrooms are two chapters in the most recent edition: Frederick Erickson's chapter, "Qualitative Methods in Research on Teaching," and Courtney B. Cazden's chapter on "Classroom Discourse." Erickson's chapter tackles issues of theory, research method, and educational policy and practice.
Teachers can seize the opportunity to shape learning environments in which children may learn more effectively and equitably if they are aware of the social organization of their practice and the norms of the school, community and society in which that practice is embedded.

Feral Scholar » RESISTANCE - Of Hoisting and Petards
The administration cannot talk about Kevin and Monica Benderman’s sacrifice without putting Benderman’s freedom on display – emboldening others to do the same – and they cannot talk with the aggrieved who have lost their flesh and blood in Iraq – like Cindy Sheehan.
Thus are the powerful now trapped in the starched and coiffed, securitized and scripted abracadabra of trying to make their war a noble cause, while Benderman sits in prison a free man because there is nothing they can take away from those who learn to walk past their fear.
Cindy Sheehan’s son Casey was killed on April 4, 2004, during the Sadr rebellion – a rebellion provoked by the Coalition Provisional Authority’s decision to bring democracy to the slums of Baghdad by closing their most popular newspaper, al Hawza.

 Necromancy in Shadowrun
Magical theoreticians talk long and loud about how there are no such things as demons to be summoned, as if their voices could drown out their own fears and concerns about the truth.
Since magic has come more into the public eye certain aspects of the Art, like the summoning of demons, has fallen by the wayside or been pushed into a dark closet where it is never talked about.
In truth, necromancy is not a "school" of magic or even a branch of magical organization as many think.

Those of us who work to help bring about change in nonprofits talk a lot about organizational culture, but I am pretty sure that most of us don't have a clear idea of what that phrase means or how to make it useful.
Edgar Schein's classic text on Organizational Culture and Leadership is a must read for any consultant or leader who wants to have a clear vision for how to embed and transmit cultures that support powerful and effective beliefs and practices.

You see, it turns out that the organization we hired to outsource the toy-production job to did some resume' padding -- they were a magical organization all right, but what they didn't say was that they were mostly populated with Gremlins and Ogres.

However, in our case, in the new molecular magical toy process technologies, we don't know what we are going to make, we don't know what we are going to get.

International Labour Organization - Nobel Lecture
The ILO has provided the nations of the world with a meeting ground, an instrument for cooperation and for dialogue among very different interests, at times when men were more disposed to settle their differences by force than by talk.
The ILO has thus proved that, despite the continuing primacy of the sovereign state, moral persuasion and moral pressure can be highly effective instruments to secure the observance of the rule of law at the international level, at least in the fields of social policy in which the ILO is competent.
And the ILO must consider one of its most important tasks in the coming years to be the promotion of policies to eliminate discrimination in all its forms, and to ensure a decent standard of living for all the inhabitants of the developed nations.
