 Nonviolent Direct Action
Problems That May Arise - Even though your action may be legal, the police may cite violations or arrest.
Direct actions are primarily defined by their confrontative, public, disruptive and possibly illegal nature.
Activists have used direct actions to spur significant social change, such as the occupation of the all-white lunch counters during the sixties, the Montgomery Bus Boycott, the anti-Vietnam and Gulf War protests, and the American Indian Movement occupation of Wounded Knee.

Talk:Carbine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is a continuation of the discussion from the Ruger Police Carbine talk page:
These short, pistol caliber lever actions are probably the truest ancestor of the Ruger Carbine, and in a sense they were cavalry weapons as well; the traditional cowboy or sheriff would carry a revolver on his belt, and a lever action rifle in the same caliber in a scabbard on his saddle.
Later versions were equipped with detatchable stocks, but the barrels remained at 10" for police and military use, the 16" barrel semi-automatic version was later added to make it saleable to civilians after the 1934 machine gun restrictions were inacted.

DVD Talk > Reviews > New Police Story
Although New Police Story may not be the return to form Jackie Chan fans were hoping for, it's a reasonably diverting action thriller and doesn't embarrass the star too much.
Though the title obviously harkens back to them, technically the movie is not a true sequel or even directly related at all to his very successful Police Story series of films from the '80s and early '90s, as Chan plays a completely different character here.
Even when the newer movies aren't outright terrible (and let's face it, some of them truly are), they simply don't have the same spark as the best pictures from the peak of his career.

Talk about fucking staged, UFPJ and the organizers of that event were cowards and more concerned with their photo-op than actually stopping the war and ending racism/capitalism...Because the government is sooo scared of people who will only take an action if they allow them too.
Remember that this is a war started by the Bush administration with the tacit approval of Congress...not by the Park Police, who are just as much a pawn in the whole process as the soldiers who don't want to fight an illegal war.

Most live games involve a large number of players (from thirty to several hundred at a time) who walk around and talk with each other, acting out as much of their characters' actions as are allowed within the rules.
If you're going to be playing on public land, especially in a city, make sure you have no props that look like real weapons (it doesn't matter that they're not real, it's still an offense if people think they are and get frightened) and let the police know what's going on.
It is very important to make sure it is legal for you to play at the site, if it is not your proprty (a nightclub, Students' Union, or whatever) then make sure the owners or managers are aware of what you'll be doing and are happy for you to play on their premises.

DVD Talk > Reviews > New Police Story
Although New Police Story may not be the return to form Jackie Chan fans were hoping for, it's a reasonably diverting action thriller and doesn't embarrass the star too much.
Together, the washed-up hero and his too-eager protégé hunt down the murderous bastards, who turn out to be a band of snotty rich teenagers corrupted by the pervasive evils of violent videogames, extreme sports, and a lack of loving attention from mommy and daddy.
Chan's drunken act through the first third of the film is too comical and doesn't mesh with the darker aspects of the story, and the big message about how violence in the media affects young minds is both patronizing and naïve.

 Buried Alive
We often talk, as activists, of the power of nonviolent action to shame oppressors and inspire sympathy with a cause.
But we have no way of sharing that knowledge with a frightened public that dispatches the police, like antibodies, to prevent the disease from spreading, so that that vague uncomfortable feeling we give them will quickly go away.
Leaderless yet united, we rode through the streets, a temporary embodiment of our democratic ideals, living evidence that that nameless thing inside of us had some validity after all.

By the time of his successful and brief action to seize Austria, in which almost no German blood was shed, Hitler was the most beloved and popular leader in the history of his nation.
After the military action began, Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain told the nervous British people that giving in to this leader's new first-strike doctrine would bring "peace for our time." Thus Hitler annexed Austria in a lightning move, riding a wave of popular support as leaders so often do in times of war.

 Review: Lethal Weapon 4
Lethal Weapon 4 is one of the summer of 1998's two lonely sequels (the other being Halloween - H20), and delivers just about what's expected from it -- characters who we know and like, the camaraderie we demand, and Richard Donner's obsessive, must-top-anything- I've-ever-done attitude towards action sequences.
The plot, which is pretty thin, centers on Riggs and Murtaugh's first case after they have been promoted to captains (due to their propensity for destroying things, the police department couldn't purchase insurance until it got them off the street and behind a desk).
With the possible exception of the still-unconfirmed Die Hard 4, Lethal Weapon 4 has been the subject of more (often inaccurate) rumors than any other action movie.
