Talk:Romanian Revolution of 1989 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The discussion at Talk:Romanian Revolution of 1989/Archive 1#Terrorists also raises some interesting matters we haven't fully explored in the article; someone may want to write a section on the controversy over who the "terrorists" were (or if there were none at all and it was just a matter of confusion).
Talk:Romanian Revolution of 1989/Archive 2 contains all of the talk related to a now-resolved dispute.
There should probably be a mention of monuments to the revolution: the cemetery at Eroii RevoluĊ£iei and the memorial at PiaĊ£a UniversitaĊ£ii among others in Bucharest; the monument in the PiaĊ£a Mare in Sibiu (and I would presume there must be a more important monument in TimiĊŸoara).

The revolution was followed by the Second All-Russian Congress of Soviets, where the Russian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic was established and the Soviet Government was created.
"From the combination of its strong and weak points has grown up an official idealisation of the February revolution as an all-national revolution, in contrast to the October one which is held to be a conspiracy.
"The tranquillity of the October streets, the absence of crowds and battles, gave the enemy a pretext to talk of the conspiracy of an insignificant minority, of the adventure of a handful of Bolsheviks.

The impetus of the quantitative revolution was partially absorbed by GIS which became the new repository of techniques in geography.
At the same time, a number of GIS practitioners objected to portrayals of their field as a direct descendent of the quantitative revolution and as a "mere technique." This paper re-analyzes a spectrum of issues raised by critics during the past decade by incorporating knowledge and analyes of GIS scholars.
Though many more sophisticated quantitative techniques were initially made available as subroutines with mapped output, few academics in GIS regard the technology as a direct descendant of the quantitative revolution.

Conservative Revolution? No -- Just Dazzlingly Effective PR
The conservative declaration of victory is itself part of a large, complex process that gives the impression of a cultural revolution without actually effecting one.
You just whisper it into what critics of the right have called the "right-wing echo chamber" — of conservative talk radio, Fox News, various conservative publications and now conservative blogs — and it turns into a roar that the mainstream media cannot ignore.
The right wing has now devised a pseudo-politics, of which the "conservative revolution" is a primary feature.

Visions August 99 - ENGELBART "The Unfinished Revolution"
The revolution that I would talk about, or what I had in mind, is really the total revolution that technology is causing.
The unfinished revolution is about what we can do to change the way we face the future so that we can better cope with all that is now happening.
The one key principle behind the Industrial Revolution was the scaling effect of a division of labor.

Thinking about Anarchism - Social Revolution - International Anarchist movement - Anarkismo
Anarchists talk about the social revolution because we recognise that there will be a time when we will have to make a definitive break with what has gone before.
The revolution will be a moment when people, their confidence built up by smaller actions, finally seize power over society, and then construct a new society where no one ever gets into a position of power again.
But to get to the anarchist society, we have to pass through the gateway of social revolution: we have to rise up and get rid of the monster that's been created, where terrorists, war criminals, and gangsters in suits decide whether they are going to let people live or die.

Anatomy of a Revolution in the Social Sciences
It has become common-place to talk about a 'Chomskyan Revolution' in the study of language, with the result that few, if any, would pause to think about what the term 'revolution' implies or is taken to imply.
It was in the publications and, in particular, in the public debates of the followers of TGG that the rhetoric of revolution, the claim to novelty, 'creativity', and originality, came to the fore, coupled with the claim of a lack of comprehension and support on the part of the older generation of linguists.
Our first association with the term 'revolution' is political in nature; we think of governments being overthrown in a coup d'état and one system of government being replaced by another.

Lecture 10: The Scientific Revolution, 1543-1600
Before we talk about the scientific revolutionaries, the implications of their work and their world view, it is necessary to examine the medieval world view.
The Scientific Revolution was nothing less than a revolution in the way the individual perceives the world.
The Scientific Revolution outshines everything since the rise of Christianity and reduces the Renaissance and Reformation to the rank of mere episodes, mere internal displacements within the system of medieval Christianity.

The Geometrical Revolution is a science of the Universal Forces of Up and Down, Action and Reaction, Order and Chaos, Heart and Mind, the Logical Harmony of the Sky, Earth and Man, the Balance of Natural and Human Constructions, the Necessity of Polarization and the Great Possibility of Knowledge and Offering, Love and Peace.

However, the actual significance of the Informational Revolution is greater: The invention of the printing press was merely a technological amplification of the Mass Medium.

Speech of a RAWA member in the conference "Women and Revolutions"
To this forum where we talk of women's revolution as one of the most vital task of the moment, I convey to you the greetings and regards of Afghan women who are deprived of their most basic human rights and are unfortunately the most forgotten women in the world.
During the Industrial Revolution in Europe women had remarkable involvement in organizing rallies and strikes and establishing unions.

It appears that the person who vandalized The Anumist Revolution's NSwiki page is the owner of ex-nations of Lawton Prk/Lawton Park (both of them are now DEAT, and the player is IP banned from NationStates for griefing and other offenses).
To combat this, I created a page on the wiki to inform people of the problem, and so it could be referred to should it happen again.

 Butterflies and Wheels Article
While many are reluctant to talk about it, or even unaware of its main precepts, the Cultural Revolution remains a central fact in their lives.
The revolution had stalled, an inchoate political bureaucracy had been created, and the inexorable logic of dialectical materialism required that the new ruling class be overturned.
While the idea that revolution could be achieved through sheer force of will was, strictly speaking, a violation of classical Marxism (with its emphasis on the transformation of productive forces), there were - according to many idealistic Leftist academics and China hands writing during the period - genuine ideological reasons behind the Cultural Revolution.

Obviously a revolution is not merely one day, it is a complicated process, and in the Portuguese case the revolution’s long-term legacy is ambiguous, and varies greatly depending on whom you talk to.
There is no doubt that when, on April 25, 1974, the Armed Forces Movement entered Lisbon peacefully (the tanks stopped at red lights and soldiers accepted red carnations from the well-wishing crowds), they brought with them a revolution.
Apparently even the word “revolution” is too politically loaded for use in Portugal.
