 DAB Digital Radio Magazine
"talkSPORT's not one of those namby-pamby, don't upset anybody, take the middle line stations and neither is my show", says Whale, who on the night I tune in is busy laying into one caller for not having a voice for radio!
If talkSPORT is anything, it certainly isn't dull - but compared to the smoother, more modulated tones of BBC Radio 5 Live it comes over as a bit of a rough diamond.
And talkSPORT hopes that the advent of digital radio will bring the station to new audiences and help to prove that commercial radio can do speech that's more popular, more entertaining and more fun than the BBC.

 Irvine v. Talksport Ltd Ch D 25 March 2002
Talksport Limited had used a doctored image of Mr Irvine holding what appeared to be a radio to his ear.
There was no suggestion being made to them that Mr Irvine would be portrayed as endorsing Talksport to the general public; this was a method of catching the eye of the target 900-odd addressees on a one-off basis.
So it was in all senses a small promotion, expected to have, and planned on the basis that it would have, only a comparatively small impact, small readership, amongst the less than 1,000 to whom it was sent.
