Amazon.co.uk: Talking with the Taxman About Poetry: Music: Billy Bragg
Billy Bragg's third full-length album, 1986's Talking with the Taxman About Poetry, is an uncompromised refinement of his brash, anti-Thatcher, busking-bloke persona.
Bragg's palette stretches beyond the jagged-rhythmic-guitar-plus-curious-voice approach of the first two albums: "Ideology" and "Marriage" see the addition of horns and piano, "Train Train" adds violin, and singer Kirsty MacColl and guitarist Johnny Marr make guest appearances.
'Talking to the Taxman' begins with 'Greetings to the New Brunette', a song imbued with guitar and feeling.

Talking with the Taxman About Poetry is the third album by Billy Bragg, released in 1986 (see 1986 in music).
With deeper production by John Porter and Kenny Jones, Talking with the Taxman About Poetry featured more musicians than Bragg's previous work, which was generally little more than Bragg himself and a guitar.

PoetryFoundation.org: Can Reading Poetry Ruin Your Career?
The way some people talk about it, you’d think reading a poem every morning was like swallowing a capsule of cod liver oil: it sharpens your vision, expands your lungs, wards off the plague.
The British singer-songwriter Billy Bragg once put out an album called Talking with the Taxman about Poetry, and the truth of the matter is built right into that title: You can’t.
If we’re talking about general parameters, I guess I try to keep in mind Frank O’Hara and his “lunch poems.” Maybe if I can just streamline things so that I’m thinking about poetry only when I go across the street to get a plate of chicken tikka masala for lunch, I’ll be okay.

Billy Bragg: Talking With The Taxman About Poetry
Agitpop's aggrieved and finely humoured singer-songwriter, Billy Bragg gave full vent to his impassioned view of the world with the excellent Talking With The Taxman About Poetry.
Less fully blown in execution than Brewing Up, or his mini-album Life's A Riot With Spy Vs Spy, his finely honed angst nevertheless remained intact, with his pungent and almost always topical material sitting comfortably alongside a new and instantly more accessible batch of songs.

Talking with the Taxman About Poetry proved that Bragg could take his music in a new direction and still hold on to the qualities that made his songs so special; too bad his political instincts were not as keen as his musical ones at the time.
