		Talladega rests completely on a simple formulation of Ferrell (the movie clown capable of making anyone laugh) + Cohen (one of the most excruciatingly funny character comedians around) + NASCAR parody.
		That being said, Ferrell running around practically naked (see his leprechaun getup on Late Night With Conan O'Brien a few years ago, or the streaking scene in Old School) is good for a laugh once per film, and Talladega delivers on that score—he's naked and he thinks he's on fire.

		Unfortunately, this point comes far too early in Talladega Nights for us to push past it and as much as the film might attempt - sometimes somewhat successfully - to bring us back down to its level, it's ultimately an entirely unrewarding experience.
		Ferrell's outings are at their best when he's not given centre stage - see Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Zoolander, or even his cameo in Starsky and Hutch - and this film is no different.
		It'd be wonderful to believe that Ferrell is a comedy king and on a smaller scale his roles almost always deliver, but between films like this and his stock Hollywood routine in Bewitched or Kicking and Screaming, there's little evidence that this is actually the case.
