Talloires is a small town and commune of the Haute-Savoie département, in the Rhône-Alpes région of eastern France.
The town is situated on the hills, along a bay, on the east side of Lake Annecy.
The town was the birthplace of "The Talloires Declaration: University Presidents for a Sustainable Future,"[1] an influential declaration on actions required by university leaders to reverse "environmental pollution and degradation, and the depletion of natural resources." Also, several conferences of the Center for International Affairs, Harvard University[2], have been held in Talloires.

The Talloires Universities Group is an association of universities from all over the world formed at a meeting in Talloires, France, in September 1988 for the purposes of furthering teaching and research on the subject of arms control, negotiation and conflict resolution.

One could guess that only 500 of the 4000 campuses are even aware of Talloires, but it would be nice to know this.
Of the 500, some may choose not too sign because Talloires does not commit a campus to any actions explicitly and some prefer a more definitive plan.
Some concerns were raised: We should continue on this task even though the BOT has not decided they will endorse Talloires signing yet We should try to get people invited to the presentations in as many ways as possible: email, listserve, ACCESS article, student newspaper articles and word of mouth.
