		Tamagotchi was launched in 1996, presumably as the digital equivilant of the "keep the egg intact for one day while carrying it everywhere" game so popular with elementary school children.
		Godzilla vs. Tamagotchi is a parody, which is protected by the "fair use" provision of the United States copyright law.
