Early in life, Nadareishvili probably worked for the KGB in some capacity, although the public record is not entirely conclusive.
Nadareishvili remained neutral during the Rose Revolution that ousted Eduard Shevardnadze in favor of Mikheil Saakashvili.

Nadareishvili's position is far more radical position that that of the Georgian leadership.
He has, for example, harshly criticized the Russian peacekeeping force for its alleged inability to protect those Georgian families that returned to their abandoned homes in Abkhazia, and called for its withdrawal as a preliminary to a new military campaign to restore Georgia's hegemony over Abkhazia by force.

AFP via ReliefWeb: Three UN observers in the troubled Caucasus republic of Georgia were taken hostage early Thursday on the country's border with the breakaway region of Abkhazia, a Georgian official told AFP.
Tamaz Nadareishvili, a senior Georgian official from the region based in Tbilisi, said that a group of eight people including four Russian peacekeepers, one intepreter and the three UN monitors were seized by unknown assailants.
The Russian troops accompanying the observers raised the alarm after being released, he said.
