		Mutsu, in northern HonshÅ«, was one of the last provinces to be formed as land was taken from the indigenous Ainu, and became the largest as it expanded northward.
		Old Iwase province encompassed the five districts of Shirakawa (ç½æ²³), Iwase (ç³è), Aizu (ä¼æ´¥), Asaka (å®ç©) and Shinobu (ä¿¡å¤«); but the area was reincorporated into Michinoku some time between 722 and 724.
