	Karuna declares ‘unilateral ceasefire’
		TamilEela Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal and I would welcome a genuine and lasting settlement based on the recently agreed arrangement between Government of Sri Lanka and the Vanni Tigers to resume talks in Geneva.
		The Politburo of the TMVP has also taken into consideration the good intentions and efforts of the Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapakse who has shown a willingness to re-draw the road map to peace in a pragmatic way.
		It should be also reiterated that TamilEela Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal has no confidence in the SLMM as they have proved beyond doubt, that they are discriminatory, biased and adopts a highly partisan approach.

	Batticaloa - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		The Eastern University of Sri Lanka, a significant educational institute in the whole eastern province of Sri Lanka, is located in Batticaloa.
		Batticaloa is the birthplace of Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan, better known as Karuna Amman, a former LTTE commander who broke away from the main organisation in 2004 and currently operates his own paramilitary group, the Tamileela Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal, or People's Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (TMVP).
		Similar to many placenames in Sri Lanka, Batticaloa is the anglicised version of the Sinhalese placename "Mada Kalapuwa" meaning "Muddy Lagoon".

	What should happen in Geneva!
		First and foremost, Geneva should not be a venue for the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) to bargain and dwell on such matters as dealing with the Karuna Rebellion and demand the Government of Sri Lanka to force disarm the Tamileela Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal (TMVP).
		If the TMVP is to be disarmed, and ideally it should be, then the same principle must apply to the LTTE itself and Wanni must be brought fully under the control of the state.
		Wanni is not a separate state; it is an illegal terror camp with the people there held captives and where the Government of Sri Lanka has not been able to let its own law and order machinery to function.
