Jonathan Falefasa "Tana" Umaga (born May 27, 1973) is a New Zealand rugby union player, the current captain of the national team, the All Blacks.
Born in Lower Hutt to Samoan immigrant parents, Tana Umaga was originally a rugby league player (and an Under 19's New Zealand representative in that sport for two years), before switching to union.
Tana's elder brother Mike was also a rugby international, although for Samoa, not New Zealand.

At the age of 29 (2002), Tana has switched from the wing to the poistion of centre where he continues to be a handful for the opposition defence.

In 2004, Jonathan Falefasa Umaga became the first New Zealander of Samoan heritage to captain the All Blacks in a Test, and in 2005 he became the fourth player to bring up 100 Super 12 caps.
Acknowledged as one of the hardest tacklers in the game (he is a former junior international at rugby league) he made a successful transition to a Test centre at the end of 2000 after playing his first 18 Tests on the wing.
