Rizal is a mountainous province perched on the western slopes of the southern portion of the Sierra Madre mountain range.
This consisted of the towns of Antipolo, Bosoboso, Cainta and Taytay from the Province of Tondo; and the towns of Morong, Baras, Tanay, Pililla, Angono, Binangonan and Jalajala from the Province of La Laguna, with the capital at Morong.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday assigned 40 policemen to guard jailed ex-president Joseph Estrada who was granted a temporary leave to undergo a medical exam and attend a prayer rally on Saturday.
The PNP is also instructed to return Estrada to his rest house "immediately after the conclusion of the Holy Mass at the Quirino Grandstand," unless the PNP deems it proper to return him earlier to Tanay.
The court added that Estrada’s visitors at the hospital and the Quirino Grandstand shall be under the PNP control and supervision as well as his use of any communication and electronic device.

His court-appointed lawyers Noel Malaya and Manuel Pamaran, however, told reporters that because of the distance between Greenhills and Tanay, Rizal, they would rather ask the court that Estrada be placed on a "temporary house arrest" at his Polk St. home, then later move for his "permanent" transfer to his rest house in Tanay.
Between the presidential suite of the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Qiuezon City where he stayed since May 2001 and the Camp Capinpin guesthouse, Estrada said he would prefer Camp Capinpin "because of sunning." His custodians said he could go around the house that is secured by barbed wire.
