A Chinese boy scout who found the fish in a stream on White Cloud Mountain, Canton in S.E. China in the 1920s (Tanichthys = Tan's fish).
So-called "gold White Cloud minnows" are a related but different species from the same region, Hemigrammocypris lini.
I've enjoyed breeding this species and I'm sure that I will return to them again in future years.
