TANJAY City, blowing a 15-point lead early in the fourth period, suffered their first loss to Silliman University Stallions, 83-82 in the elimination round of the Dumaguete City Basketball Fiesta Tournament held recently at the Lamberto Macias Sports Center, Capitol Area, Dumaguete City.
After Tanjay's successive misses, with only 13.7 seconds left, Stallion's center forward Alano was fouled, and put the cap on the basket, and as the seconds ticked off the clock, converted only a point to win the game, 83-82 final score.
Tanjay City beat Sibulan, 100-96 in the opening games of the Dumaguete Fiesta Open Basketball Invitational Tournament and posted an early lead in Bracket B, Oct. 25, at the Lamberto Macias Sports Complex, Capitol Area, this city.

But the error cost Tabaloc his right to sit in the city council for two years despite the immediate move of the Board of Canvassers (BOC) of Tanjay to correct the mistake.
Records of the case showed that on Aug. 3, 2001, the Commission on Elections en banc granted the petition of Tanjay BOC chairperson Erlinda Nochefranca to correct the erroneous entries of the CCV and the proclamation of winning candidates.

Provincial Attorney Erwin Vergara said the trucks were owned by the Tanjay City government who may now be held liable and asked to pay the fines for hauling quarry materials from the Tanjay River without the necessary permit.
Vergara said that the Tanjay local government had earlier applied for a special permit to re-channel a portion of the Tanjay River, specifically under a bridge, to prevent destruction of a concrete dike there.
In Tanjay's case, the bridge was under the jurisdiction of the Department of Public Works and Highways and the agency still has to issue a clearance, he added.

A fire officer interviewed over radio dySR Tuesday morning said the city's fire marshal was still evaluating the fire's damage to life and property.
Initial investigation said the cause of the fire was still unknown as he confirmed that the occupant of the house, former WWII veteran Galicano Sibala, was alone when the fire broke out.

DUMAGUETE CITY-The Court of Appeals (CA) has ordered agrarian reform beneficiaries to vacate the 349-hectare property of former senator Rene Espina in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental after it ruled that its coverage under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) was "not valid."
The Special CA 28th Division gave credence to the claim of the Polo Coconut Plantation Company Inc. (PCPCI) that the property should not be placed under CARP because its original exclusive use was for fishponds and the raising and pasturing of cattle.
The farmer-beneficiaries were installed on the property of Espina in Barangay Polo, Tanjay, on Feb. 25, 2004, despite strong opposition from the landowner and after 13 years of waiting on the part of the beneficiaries.
