 Dundee United FC - Dundee United A - Z ( T )
Although the original capacity of Tannadice Park was claimed to be 15,000, this seems to have been a generous estimate.
Tannadice Park’s new capacity of 14,500 is considerably less than in previous years, but the ground is nonetheless capable — in all respects — of meeting the demands of the modern era.
It’s a fact: The first goal at Tannadice Park was scored in the opening match at the ground by John O’Hara of (Edinburgh) Hibernian; to mark the occasion he was presented with a bicycle (Dundee Hibernian’s secretary and founding father Pat Reilly owned a cycle shop).

Dundee United FC Official Web Site - History
Clepington Park was renamed Tannadice Park and that was the beginning of the great club we know today as Dundee United.
Tannadice was the scene for Dundee Hibs debut in the Scottish League and although opponents Leith Athletic won 3-2 Hibs quickly earned a reputation as cup fighters and on 25 March 1911 won the Forfarshire Cup, another local cup competition, at the first attempt
In 1915 the Second Division of which Dundee Hibs were members was abandoned in favour of regional leagues and the Tannadice club operated in the Eastern League for the duration of the war.

The Scotsman - Sport - Dundee clubs agree to groundshare   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-03)
DUNDEE and Dundee United have agreed terms to groundshare at Tannadice Park next season, one of three options the Dens Park club have notified the SPL they will be considering in a bid to reduce running costs.
Speculation remains that although Dundee administrator Tom Burton has presented the groundsharing as the last and most extreme of all possible courses of action, the move to Tannadice Park is a fait accompli due to pressure being applied from both clubs’ bankers, HBOS.
Recently, United were requested to move this subject along at a faster pace to enable agreement in principle to be established within the standard SPL timetable and guidelines for the 2004/05 season.

This along with an agreement to operate on a strict budget supplies the leverage needed to halt the controversial move to share Tannadice Park with city rivals Dundee United.
This plan to share Tannadice, ratified by the SPL at a meeting last week, was one of three options outlined by the administrators in a bid to drastically cut costs at a club currently over £20million in debt.
And while the administrators emphasised that remaining at Dens Park next season was only possible due to "long, detailed negotiations" with HBOS, it is clear the force of opposition was recognised by Burton, who has called for the planned boycott by Dundee fans of this weekend’s derby match to now be cancelled.

Recent Form : Neither team has happy memories from the weekend as, whilst Queen's were comprehensively beaten up at Peterhead, United were succumbing to a rejuvenated Hearts at Tynecastle by two goals.
It seems like ages ago, but it's actually only been four years since the last encounters when Queen's did very well to take United to a replay at Tannadice, eventually losing out to a Billy Dodds header.
Likely Outcome : Whilst there is no such thing as a certainty in football, this is probably about as close as you can get to one, and a win for Queen's would register even higher on the Richter scale than today's earthquake in England.
